Job Description

Performs complex (journey-level) administrative support work that involves operating a personal computer to enter, verify, research, correct, or retrieve information to or from a database. May train others. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Examples of Work Performed
  • Review a high volume of a variety of written documents and use a personal computer to enter a high volume of information into a computer database.
  • Use a personal computer to research and retrieve information from database.
  • Assign document numbers.
  • Copy and maintain paper and electronic files.
  • Calculate required fees; compare fees received to fees required.
  • Transport office files and documents to and from other agency offices, including lifting and delivery of document storage boxes, office supplies, personal computers, and other office equipment.
  • Respond to inquiries and interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Answer phone calls related to Revenue Department.
  • Assist and substitute for receptionist.
  • Assist with opening mail.
  • May be cross-trained to assist in other areas utilizing demonstrated skills.
  • Perform related work as assigned.


  • Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year full-time administrative support work experience.


  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures.
  • Ability to type 40 cwpm.
  • Demonstrated spelling ability.
  • Skilled in the use of standard office equipment and computer software.
  • Ability to file documents in alphabetical order.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately use a 10-key pad.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team leaders and co-workers.
  • Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform duties in a stationary (seated) position with occasional periods of walking.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, by telephone, and by e-mail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, remain focused, and be flexible to changes.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in dress and interaction with others.
  • Ability to adhere to approved work schedule and maintain attendance and punctuality.
