Performs advanced and/or supervisory (senior-level) computer systems analysis work. Work involves planning, budgeting, and analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. Works under minimal direction with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Supervises a group of system administrators and database administrators responsible for the operation of agency servers.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Oversees studies and the preparations of reports that include study findings, recommendations, and instruction for proposed system implementations; formulates logical descriptions of problems; and devises and implements optimum solutions.
Oversees projects that cross functional agency systems and other state entities that require coordinating, planning, and scheduling during project development and implementation stages.
Oversees the preparation of charts, diagrams, and tables that depict the present and proposed systems in terms of costs, benefits derived, and tasks accomplished.
Oversees the training of staff prior to the implementation of technical and/or computer systems and offers advice and guidance during the implementation process.
Oversees the design and implementation of new or revised methods that effectively meet agency needs.
Analyzes and defines agency disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures.
Develops and implements strategic planning actions and policy decisions and makes recommendations concerning the direction of the agencys efforts.
Develops computer and management information system plans and budgets.
Develops, analyzes, and revises system design procedures, program code, test procedures, and quality standards.
Formulates logical descriptions of problems and devises optimum solutions.
May assist in information systems security administration.
Plans, assigns, and/or supervises the work of others.
Performs related work as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Experience and Education
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a related field.
5 years of experience in UNIX system administration and/or Oracle database administration.
2 years of experience supervising IT teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
2 years of experience analyzing and solving computer system related problems.
2 years of experience managing server hardware and/or software projects.
3 years of Solaris system administration.
3 years of web application support.
3 years of data storage experience.
3 years of Linux.
Supervisory Experience Required
Between $5,416.67 / MO and $6,666.67 / MO
