Job Description

General Description
Performs key steps in processing incoming submission forms for the Texas Register and Notary Public applications. Work includes data entry, word processing, revenue processing and routine office support. Work involves answering, placing and transferring calls, and providing general information. Work under moderate supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment within limits of established policies and procedures. Position requires flexibility and knowledge of functions of all units in Government Filings section. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On rare occasions overtime may be required.

Examples of Work
Operate computer using word processing and database software
Use financial system to precisely process revenue
Enter information into database and maintain filing system
Assist with high volume telephone calls
Answer questions or route inquiries for an answer as appropriate
Prepare records for microfilming
Maintain accurate electronic and hard-copy filing system
Serve as backup mail clerk
Assist with agency-related work as assigned


Required Qualifications

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED
Two years of relevant work experience using a personal computer with MS Windows and MS Office software


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of administrative, clerical, and data entry procedures and systems
Ability to type 35 CWPM with no more than 5 errors
Demonstrated spelling ability. Scoring at least 70% accuracy.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to perform duties in a stationary (seated) position with occasional periods of walking
Ability to work overtime when required
Ability to adhere to an approved work schedule and maintain punctual attendance
Ability to build appropriate rapport and maintain positive working relationships


Preferred Qualifications
4 year degree from a regionally-accredited college or university
Relevant work experience with Windows software such as MS Word and MS Access
Relevant work meeting deadlines
One year of relevant administrative support work experience
Supervisory Experience Required No
Pay Between $2,478.83 / MO and $2,478.83 / MO
