The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Department of Homeland Security is seeking a limited number of applicants for temporary jobs in Austin, TX.

Position Title: Human Resources Assistant
Provides clerical support to the Human Resources Unit. The Human Resources Assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: Deployment, Recruiting & Hiring and Time & Attendance.

As a Human Resources Assistant with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
•Update disaster employee assignment information in the Agency Deployment System as required.
•Provides guidance and assistance to agency disaster reservist employees for insurance and health benefits enrollment, among others.
•Gather, review, and organize temporary job order requests from requesting authority.
•Receive and evaluate resumes/applications against job order requirements to determine eligibility.
•Coordinate and facilitate interviews in conjunction with Hiring Officials.
•Submit the completed new hire package to immediate supervisor for quality control.

Relevant Experience Required:
•At least two years of professional office experience preferably in one of the following areas: Human Resources, Recruitment/Talent Acquisition, and/or General Clerical.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Must be comfortable setting multiple appointments, answer phones, setup/organize files and prepare reports.
•Must have intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
•Must be experienced in operating standard office equipment, copier, fax, and scanner.
•Knowledge and understanding of legal policies and procedures related to hiring
•Knowledge of full cycle recruitment process
•Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively, prioritize and work in a fast paced, interrupt-driven environment.
•Demonstrated keen attention to detail and effective organizational follow-through skills.
•Personable yet discreet and confidential; understands and respects protecting sensitive employee information, adhering to strict HR standards and protocols; self-starter and self-directed; resourceful.
•Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, among diverse employee populations. Tact and diplomacy due to daily contact with high-level officials both from FEMA and local State. Must possess professional and personal office etiquette.
•All candidates must possess strong computer, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
