The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Department of Homeland Security is seeking a limited number of applicants for temporary jobs in Austin, TX.

Duties & Responsibilities:
As a Insurance Specialist for FEMA you will be responsible for the following duties:
Performs insurance reviews of infrastructure projects providing technical advice required for rapid Federal response to Presidentially-declared disasters. Reviews insurance policies; coordinates with federal/state/local entities and agencies; provides technical assistance for post disaster public assistance grant program activities; and analyzes insurance issues related to public infrastructure. Serves as an insurance liaison with State Insurance Departments and Agencies on all insurance related matters affecting Public Assistance. Makes recommendations to management regarding the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Provides technical assistance to applicants, reviews policies, determines damages covered and actual and anticipated insurance proceeds.
Typical duties include:
• Review General Commercial Insurance Policies
• Review automobile policies
• Review NFIP flood insurance policies
• Review insurance settlement documents
• Review FEMA Public Assistance project grant applications request
• Determine applicable insurance coverage's
• Apply appropriate FEMA policy guidance pertaining to insurance to ensure there is no duplication of benefits
• Placing applicable insurance requirements on FEMA Public Assistance projects


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
General Property Insurance Adjusting or Claims Reviewer background
2 year property insurance adjusting and/or claim review
• Attention to detail and strong writing skills
• Knowledge of the FEMA Public Assistance Program
• General working knowledge of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
• Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, outlook
• Comfortable learning new computer programs and processes



Relevant Experience Required:
• Bachelor's Degree
