The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Department of Homeland Security is seeking a limited number of applicants for temporary jobs in Austin, TX.

As an Individual Assistance Customer Service Representative with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

• Preparing project papers, staff reports, and skill in organizing data utilizing multiple computer databases
• Contacting disaster survivor
• Coordinate with other staff on critical concerns that may affect program and delivery of services, identify potential special needs, recognize/report significant information/trends, compile data/reports on daily visitation numbers and report potential media opportunities to manager
• Identify and communicate potential hazardous situations to immediate supervisor or safety officer
• Stress importance of registering for Federal assistance


Relevant Experience Required:
2-3 years customer service. Must be sensitive to individual's needs. Must be capable of working in weather conditions of extreme heat and cold.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and walk long distances. Must have experience in customer service work.

Must have good writing and oral communication skills.

Emergency management personnel undergo considerable stress inherent in assignments that involve assistance following major disaster declarations.

Selected candidates will be required to complete a background investigation which includes finger printing.

This is a TEMPORARY position for up to 120 days which could be terminated or extended at any time, depending on the needs of the operation. A Local Hire appointment does not entitle you to federal civilian status.
You may be required to work 10-12 hour a day 7 days a week.

You must provide two forms of ID: such as a VALID Driver License, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate etc. or Passport. (We will not accept if expired.)
Eighteen years of age and US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED.
Direct deposit of salary is a condition of employment.
Salaries are comparable to local prevailing wages.
