The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Department of Homeland Security is seeking a limited number of applicants for temporary jobs in Austin, Texas.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide guidance on planning, implementation, operation and evaluation of Disaster Housing Mission. Collaborate with FEMA Team Lead to support consistent Direct Housing program implementation and adherence to contract terms related to providing accessible housing for survivors with disabilities in a timely manner.

Provide expert technical assistance to ensure site evaluations are inclusive of the assessment of accessibility feature feasibility. Utilizing technical expertise, assess individual needs and develop recommendations for accessible Direct Housing solutions.

Develop system to carry out and track Direct Housing program implementation activities and adherence to contract terms related to providing accessible housing for survivors with disabilities in a timely manner. Develop effective process and for identification of the accessibility needs of survivors with disabilities and wrap around services through case reviews and collaboration with FEMA and State teams implementing the Direct Housing program in the assigned area.

Provide professional consultation to ensure effective communication for applicants throughout Direct Housing process. Act as disability subject matter expert in Direct Housing Mission Technical Assistance team to ensure delivery of housing support services and case review of applicants with disabilities who are receiving housing services in the assigned area.

Provide disability-related briefings in housing-related meetings. Conduct program review and site visits in collaboration with other FEMA programs as assigned. Contribute to crossover activities in support of congruence with principles of the National Disaster Recovery Framework and Recovery Federal Interagency Operational plan and the Direct Housing Mission.

Assure implementation of program development in congruence with principles of recovery-based services. Write concise professional daily reports, periodic briefing materials, and job aids related to technical activities. Develop and implement trainings for adult audiences on aspects of assessing and implementing accessible housing.

Educational Requirements:
Masterís degree in social, public health, behavioral science, or public administration strongly preferred; relevant Bachelor's degree required.

Relevant Experience Required:
3 years of experience in property management, housing management, HUD, and/or real estate preferred OR any combination of experience, education and measurable performance which demonstrates the capability to perform the duties of the position.

3 years of experience administering or providing services to people with disabilities requiring housing assistance, conducting aging-in-place assessments, conducting functional assessments of people requesting in-home supports, or similar experience required.

3 years of experience working with the Americans with Disabilities Act standards or Architectural Barriers Act standards preferred.
Program/Project Management experience preferred.

Important Notices-
Selective service registration (if applicable) is required. This position requires a Public Trust background investigation. Local Hire employees are eligible for the following benefits:

Health insurance for individual or family coverage - Employer contribution is 75% of premium. Ability to earn 4 hours of paid Sick Leave per pay period, Holiday pay and Workerís Compensation.

Selected candidates will be required to complete a background investigation which includes finger printing. You must provide two forms of ID: such as a VALID Driver License, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate etc. or Passport. (We will not accept if expired.) Eighteen years of age and US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED. Direct deposit of salary is a condition of employment. Salaries are comparable to local prevailing wages.

Additional Workweek Details This is a TEMPORARY position for up to 120 days which could be terminated or extended at any time, depending on the needs of the operation. A Local Hire appointment does not entitle you to federal civilian status.
