Job Description

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Department of Homeland Security is seeking a limited number of applicants for jobs in Austin, TX.

All candidates should possess strong computer, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Eighteen years of age and US Citizenship is required. Selected candidates will be required to complete a background investigation which includes finger printing. Employer is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Salaries are comparable to local pay rates.

JOB DUTIES:
Coordinates HM data with other agencies and organizations and is responsible for managing HM data and storage devices in addition to geospatial databases;
Gathers, reviews, and organizes disaster-related information for analysis and decision making and advises on databases and data sets;
Develops an inventory tracking system of mitigation projects and geospatial products and maintains a cataloging system for the permanent preservation of perishable mitigation data;
Coordinates, organizes, and archives HM Branch data, information, and products during disaster field operations to meet JFO, Regional Mitigation, and Headquarters Mitigation needs, communicates HM program information to internal partners, across the HM branch, and external audiences. Participates in coordination meetings on other geospatial and data collection activities and available systems.
Explains uses and access requirements for databases and datasets relevant to the disaster, or refer to specific program contact (e.g., National Emergency Management Information System (NEMIS), disaster clearinghouses)

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience developing and managing data collection systems and providing advice on data collection to senior management officials. Senior level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and other automated database programs.

Good interpersonal, communication, analytical skills.
Written communication and computer skills to generate reports, correspondence, review documentation. Maintain computer based tracking and appointment systems. Developing office materials such as filling systems. Specific knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to multi-task.
Ability to work effectively either independently or as part of a team.
