Job Description


The Customer Service Agent serves as a direct point of contact for individuals registering for federal assistance and seeking relief program referrals through multimodality applications; phone, live chat, email, and social media.



Interview individuals with patience, thoughtfulness, and courtesy to determine needs, and provide instructions and/or referrals.

Enter information into disaster relief database as required, while following instructions and conducting a scripted interview.

Provide phone number and agency referrals as necessary for applicable secondary support organizations and other assistance.

Perform additional duties assigned based on the disaster relief's level of support to the event. Examples include, but are not limited to: helpline, rental resources, shelter assistance, pre-placement interviews, and tracking donation offers from the public.

All data entry must be conducted while the disaster survivor is on the phone. No data entry will be performed after the caller hangs up.

Needed Skills:

Display excellent communication and customer service skills (compassion) and exhibit a high level of professionalism in all communication; read, write, and speak English, fluently.

Have knowledge and experience with personal computers in a Microsoft Windows-based environment.

Excellent data-entry skills

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Must Haves:

Proof of citizenship

High school diploma or GED
