Position Title: HM 406 Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities:
As a HM 406 Specialist with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
• The candidate is responsible for providing technical support for the Hazard Mitigation Analysis responsibilities.
• Will conduct site visits to identify mitigation measures and will develop site visits report, with location, damage description and also will identified possible mitigation measures and other pertinent information to develop the mitigation scope of work for public facilities like damaged public buildings, roads, plants and other public facilities.
• Will be able to develop technical reports, provide technical support and review of hazard mitigation projects, should be capable of obtain or develop flood flow-frequency form information available.
• The work will comprise of technical support for a wide range of damaged facilities, identify feasibility and cost-effectiveness of damaged facilities in compliance with agency standards, policies and regulations.
• The candidate will coordinate and direct the work to ensure delivery of technical services for our teams which include building science, engineering, economics analysis, and project design to monitor projects, evaluate status, conduct benefit-cost analysis when required, and prepare reports and presentations.
• Will serve as a point-of-contact with internal and external shareholders who are involved in mitigation.

Educational Requirements:
• High School / GED
• Bachelor of Science

Relevant Experience Required:
• Knowledge of risk reduction, general engineering; knowledge of general construction, roadway, drainage, engineering, building architecture; and an understanding of risk and vulnerability of Public infrastructure. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Construction.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• The work is primarily sedentary. Travel is required for meetings, interviews and may include site visits. Could be working outside in extreme temperatures.
• Senior level proficiency in MS Office software such as MS Word and Excel and other automated data bases.
• The ability to interpret statistical information and perform statistical analyses. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. All candidates should possess strong computer, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction, Geography, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent level of on-the-job expertise with GIS systems

Selected candidates will be required to complete a background investigation which includes finger printing.

This is a TEMPORARY position for up to 120 days which could be terminated or extended at any time, depending on the needs of the operation. A Local

Hire appointment does not entitle you to federal civilian status.

You may be required to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week.

You must provide two forms of ID: such as a VALID Driver License, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate etc. or Passport. (We will not accept if expired.)

Eighteen years of age and US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED.

Direct deposit of salary is a condition of employment.

Salaries are comparable to local prevailing wages.
