JOB DESCRIPTION:

Smith Pump Company has an opening for a qualified technician for our Waco branch. The candidate for this position will perform the disassembly, repair, assembly and test of various types of pumps. Operate with hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment. Shop and field work will be required which may include physically demanding work in an outdoor environment. Candidate must have the ability to follow safety rules and requirements when working in dangerous areas or with power equipment.





POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
■ Required
■ To perform acceptably, the person working in this position will have to work efficiently at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. Overtime is sometimes required as well as some weekend work with deadlines.
■ Applicant must have a good attitude. Be capable of working under pressure. Handle daily changes in schedules and priorities. Willing to work in several shop areas. Be a team player.
■ Must possess good verbal communication skills
■ Ability to complete mathematical calculations required for the position
■ High School Diploma or GED
■ Good mechanical aptitude and attention to details. Must have good driving
record, drug screening and Physical are required.
■ Requires clear criminal background and drug
■ Clear Driving Record
■ Maintain a good attendance and safety record
■ Preferred
■ Computer experience
■ Experience with pump distributor or related service company.
■ Mechanical pump or rotating equipment experience preferred. On job training
may be considered for right applicant.
■ Vo-tech or additional technical training is a plus
■ A working knowledge of bearings, seals and packing, motors, electrical wiring, pumps, tools and how to use them properly, pump curves and impellers, gearboxes, pump operations and general principals
■ Shop Mechanic experience with the following abilities: disassemble and inspect equipment, prepare paperwork, determine cause of failure, equipment assembly and testing, record job time accurately, identify equipment and parts accurately, keep work areas clean and organized, and the ability to follow established policies and procedures.

Compensation: Hourly wage qualifications and experience
