We are seeking a highly motivated, Transformer Technician II in the Houston, TX area. The Transformer Technician is responsible for the support for testing, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of power transformers, providing electrical field support for installation and maintenance for power transformers.

Desired Skills:
We’re Experts. You’ll have the following experience:

Basic Requirement:
• High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of professional work experience; OR
• Associates degree and 3 years of professional work experience; OR
• Bachelor's Degree and one year of professional work experience.

Preferred Requirement:
• Associates Degree in a technical field and 5 years of transformer testing experience.
• Position requires knowledge of electric utility systems, especially related to transformer substation and tamper proof pad mount transformer construction, and retrofit.
• Position also requires knowledge of the design, construction and maintenance of power transformers. The position also commands knowledge of testing techniques and diagnostic tools related to transformer equipment, calculation of expected test values, ability to read schematics.
• Service issues often involve very complicated technical issues combined with short delivery cycles and high customer expectations. A major portion of the effort is understanding the technical problem, finding the correct resources to correct the issue, and drawing upon the correct resources to deliver a solution quickly. The manager must be technically competent, resourceful, attentive, and tenacious in the pursuit of a solution.

Your key responsibilities:

• Diagnostic & Acceptance Testing
o Doble Power Factor Testing
o TTR Testing
o CT testing
o Insulation Resistance
o Winding Resistance
o Control and Instrumentation checkout and calibration
o Transformer monitoring devices
• Perform advanced diagnostic testing activities including SFRA and DFR testing of transformers.
• Assist field crews in mechanical assembly of transformers
• Act as operator for oil processing equipment
• Perform pre-job assembly activities such as wiring control cabinets, preparing power and control assemblies, etc.
• Develop and provide traceable PM schedules and documentation for field service equipment.
• Provide emergency response as required
• Maintain accurate records of all transformer maintenance activities and testing including as-built drawings, test records, deviations to specifications.
• Provide technical support for customer, subcontractors, and commissioning engineers.
