Job Description

Essential Functions:

Coordinates and conducts sales efforts to support all four (4) CAT dealers within Texas to cover the entire market and grow CAT construction equipment sales within TxDOT and the Texas Forest Service.

Significant time and sales activity will be spent supporting the governmental market segment in Holt CAT’s territory in way of direct sales to assigned government accounts within central Texas

Supports the governmental market segment in HOLT CAT’s territory through the management of the cooperative purchasing contract and key governmental customer functions

Administers and complies with Buyback Contract Maintenance

Administers and complies with governmental co-op programs.

Generates formal bid responses to state and local government bid requests.

Develops, generates, and delivers formal bid responses to BuyBoard and other necessary co-op program contracts.

Collects and provides competitive market data and trends to Holt company management and CAT.

Tracks, monitors, and reports all sales activity within Holt’s CRM system

Studies and analyzes Governmental Customer Market segment support

Requires regular and punctual employee attendance

Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards

Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge and understanding of government (Local & State government) bid processes along with the ability to deliver effective and compliant responses to bids and RFP’s is required.

Extensive knowledge and experience in conducting sales to the Texas Department of Transportation are required.

Knowledge of how state co-op programs, which includes “Buyboard”, operate along with the ability to generate effective and compliant bid responses is required.

Knowledge of CAT construction equipment and applications is preferred.

Ability to coordinate the efforts of multiple departments in an effort to deliver solutions and maintain a positive customer experience.

Experience in selling to large and complex end users, which often takes an extended period of time to be awarded the contract, is preferred.

Knowledge of safe work policies, procedures, and practices

Deep understanding of products, business coordination, and strong technical aptitude

Effective influencing skills which include motivating and developing customers and employees

Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making

Uses logic, reasoning, and observation to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

Demonstrated knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales)

Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with the ability to build long-term business relationships

Exceptional business acumen and attention to detail and accuracy

Strong MS Office Skills with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Active listening skills, collaboration, DISC, and conflict resolution

Ability to work in a collaborative approach with individuals and groups to reach a common goal

Ability to read, write, and understand information

Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Marketing or any related field preferred

One to three years of experience required; three to five years preferred


Travel time up to 30% is to be expected with some overnight stays
