Job Description

Seeking to fill position of Director of Marketing

Reports to: President of the Chamber of Commerce

Job Summary:
Responsible for planning, development and implementation of the Economic Development Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau marketing strategies and marketing communications, both external and internal. Directs the efforts of marketing in coordination with the Economic Development Corporation, and the Chamber of Commerce/Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Responsibilities Include:
Day to day management of Marketing which includes but is not limited to the following:
The Economic Development Corporation
• Monitor an annual marketing budget for the Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
• Lead marketing and event planning activities,(i.e. ICSC, Texas ICSC) of the EDC.
• Supervise and maintain the EDC’s website content, updates, etc.
• Supervise and maintain all aspects of social media platforms for the EDC.
• Oversee the production of marketing materials and publications by identifying goals and objectives, researching and analyzing options, preparing plans, researching subject matter, writing copy, and managing graphics, printing, production, and distribution for the EDC. (i.e., information pamphlets, media materials, posters etc.)
• Create, implement, and enforce branding and identity guidelines.
• Prepare agenda and facilitate Small Business meetings. Assist with planning, designing and promoting Small Business events.
• Manage media buys (print or electronic advertising).
• Assist in managing, writing, communicating press releases to the public, including crisis management.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key City departments.
• Attend monthly board meetings for the EDC
• Attend City Council meetings as needed when related to EDC items.
• Partner with senior leadership for all messaging, copy, and content in their respective channels and organizations.
• Participate in all required department meetings.
• Maintain memberships in pertinent Economic Development organizations and attend economic development training annually.
• Maintain a positive attitude and commitment to the EDC and Chamber of Commerce/CVB.
• Perform any additional duties as required.

Chamber of Commerce/Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB)
• Develop, implement and monitor an annual operating budget for the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).
• Lead marketing and event planning activities of the Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitors Bureau including the annual Heritage Jubilee, 4th of July Fireworks and the Christmas Parade.
• Manage, maintain and oversee Visitor Center.
• Coordinate preparation of the Chamber newsletter.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with hotel/motel managers and sales agents in Terrell.
• Prepare and present Hotel/Motel Tax request to the City and attend City Council meetings related to hotel/motel tax as needed.
• Supervise and maintain all aspects of the Terrell Chamber’s social media platforms.

• Attend and prepare minutes for Executive and monthly board meetings for the Chamber.
• Partner with senior leadership for all messaging, copy, and content in their respective channels and organizations.
• Maintain memberships in pertinent CVB organizations and attend CVB/Tourism training annually.
• Maintain membership in a local service club i.e. Kiwanis, Lions or Rotary Club.
• Maintain a positive attitude and commitment to the Chamber of Commerce/CVB.
• Perform any additional duties as required.

• Excellent written, organization, speaking and presentation skills and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks with high level of detail, working effectively and efficiently under pressure.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Extensive knowledge of social media.
• Ability to work without supervision.
• Conversational skills bilingual is a plus.
• Must have valid TX driver’s license.

Minimum Educational Requirements (Mandatory for Hiring):
• BS and or BA in Marketing or a related field
• Social media campaigns experience

Work Environment:
Fast paced professional office environment. There is limited exposure to environmental conditions when in an office environment, however, is exposed to elements, including but not limited to, weather and temperature.

Physical Requirements:
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials (up to 45 lbs). While working special events may stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Additional Pay Details Salary is based on experience.

Additional Workweek Details Primarily an 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday schedule but must be willing to work occasional after hours and weekends to assist with Chamber functions and special events.
