Job Description

Magnolia Assistant Merchants are responsible for assisting and aiding the Merchant with product development tracking, vendor communication and category management. They will assist in product creation, reporting and analyzing. The Assistant Merchants will process samples alongside the Merchandising Assistant.

Assistant Merchants will oversee 1-4 categories under the supervision of the Merchant. As a category manager, the Assistant Merchants will oversee the product assortment and collection building within his or her respective categories. For their categories, they will visionary for our products, by understanding trends and capitalizing on demand while understanding the Magnolia aesthetic and brand.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Merchant.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Uphold Magnolia’s mission, vision, and values

Manage a 1-4 categories under the supervision of the Merchant including building a category strategy with the Merchant

Research new vendors and products; set up vendors and products in Netsuite and Shopify according to the SOP

Ensure product accuracy and integrity by checking all systems

Maintain and update Master SKU Lists for assigned categories

Determine business trends and recommend appropriate strategy responses

Set pricing at category and subcategory levels

Strategically identify new vendors and assortment opportunities

Drive product development for 1-4 categories creatively and effectively

Maintain communication with vendors regarding product information, payment information, costing, timelines, lead times, etc.

Learn product assortment for managed categories to ensure quality control measures are met and to answer questions from other teams

Process sample tracking and organization including labeling and preparation for presentations and coordinating returns with vendors

Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least one year of relevant experience.
